Default Toshiba MT1 - Has my lamp gone kaput?

Hello,

I have a TLP MT1 LCD projector that I've had from new back in 2000.

It no longer seems to project the video image but DOES still manage to
project the menu. Are these different mechanisms? I assume the lamp
has come to the end of it's 2000-hour life - it's done very well at
about six years of occasional use.

If it's relevant, the message " 1000h" was showing every time I used
it prior to it packing up. Again - this leads me to believe it's the
lamp - but I can't find that message mentioned anywhere in the
manuals.

If anyone could let me know if this problem will be solved by
purchasing a new lamp I would be most grateful. I've found the MT1 to
be an excellent product and would hate to have to turn my back on it.

Best regards,
Chris Ward

Letting lamps continue burning until they blow isn't a good idea as there's
the slight chance they could shatter and cause damage so the timer usually
kicks in towards the end of the lamp's lifetime even when it's still
working. This menu only 'feature' could be an indication it's time you
changed the lamp (as was the warning message) - you're unlikely to watch the
menu for hours on end so you won't be adding many additional duty hours. Do
you have a menu item to reset the timer? If you're desperate to use the
projector whilst waiting to get a new lamp then you could try the reset
procedure and see if you get the picture back but don't run it for too long
in case it blows...
