Curiously I can't get it to do anything with a PC connection, using
an RGB cable. I've tried both my PC and a laptop, and neither do
anything (and the TV's definitely detected as a monitor, and my
Windows desktop is extended onto it, and running at a compatible
resolution and refresh rate). Anyone got any ideas?

Do you really mean an RGB cable? or a VGA cable? Oddly enough the
specs on that web site state "Input port 5: PC In (no RGB)".

Thanks for the reply.

It was my own dumb fault! On the menu there's the option to choose between
component VGA and RGB VGA. It was set to component, hence wasn't working.

Clearly the site's wrong also :-)

Have you tried DVI-HDMI with a suitable converter cable or plug?

I think I will do long term, as the guy at Sharp said (whether true or not)
that VGA connections can't produce 1080P. But the HDMI connection can.
