Advice please
My dad wants me to sort him out a 37" TV. He's decided that 32" isnt
big enough and 42" is too much. He's probably right on that given the
size of his living room.
I personally am a panasonic fan, so I'm playing the TH37PX60 against
the newer TH37PX600

Everything I have heard about these sets is positive. But is the newer
'600' model worth the extra couple of hundred quid?
Personally I would say no. I have the 42" PX60. The sound quality is
fine. The memory slot may be useful - but probably not. Having PIP
would be nice - but unless that floats your boat, don't go there. If it
were £75 then maybe...but not over £200.
And would anyone like to recommend something they consider better?
Nope - especially at those prices! Shame you cant have the 42" - Ive
seen that for near enough your cheapest price on that link! (ie £25
more!) To be honest, I now wished Id bought the 50". You soon get used
to the size and unless the room size is particularly small, I doubt 5
diagonal inches would make that much difference.
My only regret was not waiting - and getting it for half the price I
paid. But its not really a regret. I love the damn thing!
The best I've seen the 37" for is about £900 with the stand that he
needs. I cant see the 42" for less than 1099
I've seen the 42" for £900. It probably involved using vouchers. AV
forums is usually a good source for best prices. Try also to buy
through John Lewis if you can (with price match) to get their 5 year
warranty...
I paid £1000.00 for the for the 42" with cabinet just after Christmas at
Empire Direct and am still chuffed to bits with every aspect of the TV. I
seem to remember they were doing the same set with either the pedestal stand
or wall bracket for about £100.00 less. This was without having to use any
vouchers.
