At work we have a PC connected to a Sony KDL-40W2000 TV.
The PC has a DVI output which is connected to a HDMI input on the TV
via a suitable cable.
If you turn the screen on , select the HDMI input and then boot up
the PC then we get a picture.
If you then turn the TV off to standby or off entirely , then turn
it back on we get nothing. You see the av-5 graphic on the screen
and that's it. We need to reboot the PC before the TV will display the
picture
again which is a major pain.
Any suggestions?
This happens with both PCs we have tried , and also using Vista or
XP. It seems that the TV is after a "switch on" signal before it will
display anything.
Alex,
If this is a MediaCenter PC try pressing the windows menu key & see if
it show the start menu, if it does then a downgrade of driver (ATI)
fixed this for me (it was a problem with the overlay not being on the
primary display).
Nope , XP Pro or Vista Business
If not - see if your graphics drivers have a setting for allowing
hot-key change of resolution - ctrl+alt+numkeyplus or something like
that - and try switching resolutions down and back again.
I've got it on a different PC - one with a VGA screen on one output and the
DVI output to HDMI input on the Sony.
Still the same symptoms , where the TV won't display a picture after being
set to standby or powered off entirely , but either toggling the DVI output
off and on again in windows or changing to a different resolution then back
again brings it back up.
Most odd
